FAQ on Exchange Notice Penalties

The U.S. Department of Labor is advising businesses they will not be fined if they fail to notify their employees of their health insurance options by Oct. 1.  Until this week, there was considerable speculation that employers who failed to give written notice to employees outlining their upcoming insurance options could face fines of $100 per day, or even per employee per day, for missing the Oct. 1 notification deadline.
